A life built on freedom, not escape.

Nhom Lau was built on a belief that capable, high-functioning people deserve more than survival. They deserve a life that is actually theirs.

A life built on freedom, not escape — Nhom Lau
Our Story

Nhom Lau was not built from theory — it was built from lived experience.

I began to notice a pattern across leaders, dreamers, and emerging professionals. Different backgrounds, different lives, yet carrying a similar weight. High functioning was seen as strength — and it is. However, the question became: how long are you expected to remain strong?

That identity opened doors. It built trust and created opportunity. However, over time, it also created something quieter — expectation without protection, responsibility without support, and strength that was rarely questioned.

Many learned how to carry early. What was often missing was how to rest, set boundaries and remain whole while doing so.

There came a point where the question shifted from can I carry this? to should I continue carrying it this way?

That question became the beginning of Nhom Lau.

“Freedom is not found in escape, but in how you choose to live.”
Why Nhom Lau Exists

Nhom Lau means “free mind” — a spacious mind.

Not a life without responsibility — however a life that is not crowded by pressure, guilt, or unspoken expectations.

This work is for those who are functioning well on the outside, yet internally feel stretched or misaligned. Those who have learned to be strong, however are ready to be whole. Those who are relied on, however are ready to live with clearer boundaries.

Nhom Lau was created to offer a different way of living — one that is structured, intentional and sustainable.

Our Evolution

What started as reflection became a body of work.

Conversation became coaching. Coaching became a body of work.

Today, Nhom Lau includes coaching, speaking, resources, and community-based conversations that support growth without performance.

Through every stage, one principle remains: freedom is not found in escape, but in how you choose to live.

Mission

To help individuals — especially high-functioning individuals — build a free and spacious mind through truth, structure, emotional maturity and intentional living.

Vision

To redefine what strength looks like — where responsibility and rest can coexist, and people are supported not just in what they carry, but in how they live.

About the Founder

Awit Kuac

Coach, speaker, and author based in South Australia.

Awit's work is grounded in lived experience, professional practice and a deeply considered philosophy of freedom. With a background in Human Services, she has worked across vulnerable communities including child protection, resettlement and employment support.

Across these spaces, one pattern remained consistent: the individuals carrying the greatest responsibility were often the ones least supported in sustaining it. Many were not lacking capability — they were highly capable individuals navigating complex realities, people who had learned how to carry pressure, responsibility and expectation from an early stage of life.

What Awit observed was not weakness but weight. She recognised that those most in need of rest, clarity and peace were often the least likely to pursue it — not because they didn't desire it, but because they had been conditioned to equate slowing down with failure.

Her work is grounded in a clear belief: high-functioning individuals are not struggling due to incapacity — they are carrying more than they were designed to hold, often without the structures, language or permission to live differently.

This insight led to the development of Nhom Lau — meaning “free mind” — a spacious and grounded way of living shaped by clarity, discernment and intentional boundaries.

Nhom Lau was founded by Awit, a coach and mentor committed to helping individuals move from over-responsibility into clarity, alignment, and sustainable growth — grounded in truth, emotional maturity, and faith.

Core Values

What guides this work

01

Clarity

Helping you see what is truly yours to carry — and what is not. Clarity is not about having all the answers; it is about knowing the right questions.

02

Discernment

In a world that rewards speed, the ability to pause and choose well is radical. Discernment is a practice, and it requires space.

03

Emotional Authority

Owning your inner life rather than being owned by it. Knowing what you feel, what it means, and what to do with it.

04

Spaciousness

A free mind is not an empty one — it is a mind with enough room to think clearly, feel fully, and act with intention.
